Which changes occurred in the body of the Brazilian metropolis in the first decade of the 21st century? The INCT Observatory of the Metropolis releases one more book in order to contribute with the interpretation about the historical moment which Brazil is passing. The e-book “Social structure of the Brazilian metropolis: analysis of the 1st decade of the 21st century” is a collection which seeks to understand the impacts of the economic and social processes in the big urban centers of our country from the investigation about the social structure and its relation with unemployment, income inequalities, population and migration dynamics, among other factors.

Organized by Luiz Cesar de Queiroz Ribeiro, Marcelo Gomes Ribeiro and Lygia Gonçalves Costa, the e-book “Social structure of the Brazilian metropolis: analysis of the 1st decade of the 21st century” (Letra Capital Publisher) seeks to reflect about the changes in the social structure of the big urban centers in Brazil and its relation with other socio-demographic dimensions. For this purpose, it departs from a common comprehension of social structure, used by all the authors of this book, which enables, beyond the analytical unity, to achieve comparative analysis between different metropolitan regions in the country.
