Economia Goiana no Contexto Nacional – 1970 a 2000

O livro trata da economia de Goiás nas últimas décadas e encontra-se dividida em três capítulos. O primeiro aborda a integração do estado no contexto comercial com São Paulo e os efeitos regionais das políticas públicas como a Marcha para o Oeste, as construções de Goiânia e Brasília, a instituição do Crédito Rural e as políticas de desenvolvimento regionais, até a década de 1970. O segundo trata das conseqüências da modernização agrícola no estado, nos anos 80, em grande parte, influenciadas pelas ações governamentais na Política de Garantia de Preços Mínimos, no Fundo Constitucional do Centro-Oeste, na disponibilização de recursos do BNDES e na adesão à “guerra fiscal”. O terceiro aponta os resultados das políticas neoliberais no âmbito regional, mostrando que Goiás aprofundou sua integração de forma complementar ao dinamismo do Sudeste brasileiro e cresceu, no período, acima da média nacional.

Synopsis

This book examines the economic fortunes of the state of Goiás in recent decades. It is divided into three chapters. The first deals with the integration of the state in the context of trade with São Paulo and the regional effects of public policies as the ‘March to the West’, the construction of Goiânia and Brasília, the institution of the Rural Credit programme and regional development policies up to the 1970s. The second deals with the consequences of agricultural modernization in the state in the 80s, influenced by government actions through the Guaranteed Minimum Price policy, the Constitutional Fund of the Centro-Oeste, the increasing availability of resources from BNDES and adherence to “fiscal war”. The third shows the results of neoliberal policies at the regional level, showing that Goiás deepened its integration in a complementary fashion to the dynamism of the Brazilian Southeast and grew at a rate above the national average throughout the period.
